    Special consultation for epilepsy patients

NeuroTeam Clinic offers special consultations for dogs and cats suffering from epileptic seizures. Since these patients are particularly sensitive to stress, appointments are scheduled during times when public traffic is minimal. Consultations are conducted by specialist veterinarians who not only have clinical experience with epilepsy in animals but also conduct scientific research in this field.

A preliminary diagnosis can be made during the consultation if the seizure lasts only a short period of time and no treatment has been started yet. The examination includes a detailed discussion of the seizures observed so far (including information about siblings, parents, etc.) as well as a comprehensive general and neurological examination. If this hasn't been done yet, a blood sample is taken to rule out metabolic disorders as the cause of seizures. Depending on the results, decisions are made regarding further diagnostic procedures (e.g. tests under anaesthesia: computed tomography scan, brain magnetic resonance imaging, puncture and analysis of cerebrospinal fluid).
After conducting the necessary tests, the veterinarian provides recommendations on the best way of treatment for the pet's seizures. An individual treatment protocol is also developed for animals that have experienced seizure forms resistant to previous treatments. Thanks to various newer medications available today, we can offer different alternatives to help achieve better seizure control. Moreover, we would also like to offer long-term support to patients for whom it can be difficult to find a veterinarian to manage complex forms of epilepsy in their pet.
