    Cancer diseases requiring neurosurgical therapy

Cancer diseases requiring neurosurgical therapy are diagnosed frequently. The decision on whether surgery will be effective in this case depends on various factors. If a tumour is benign or malignant, it can be surgically removed, and most importantly, after the operation, good nerve function and the quality of patient's life should be restored.

    Brain tumour

For brain tumours, surgical intervention is typically limited to meningiomas, which, depending on their location, can be safely removed without causing harm to the brain. If complete removal is not possible, radiation therapy may be continued after successful surgery (see radiation therapy).

    Nerve root tumours

The same applies to nerve root tumours. Unlike meningiomas or spinal cord membranes tumours, the neural structures themselves are being affected. It is important that the distance between the tumour and the affected nerve tissue is such that it does not cause serious neurological damage.
